So it looks that when he logs in to Windows now with his credentials, Outlook somehow knows? there is already an OST file created under different user and therefore it can't open the OST? I've eventually found out that the user actually used laptop under different account (his colleague) for few days and added his account to the outlook there in his colleague's windows account. also ran O365 repair & recovery and did not fixed that issue. Add the school account as IMAP.I have a user (Win11) that is experiencing issue with loading his profile in Outlook and is getting message "cannot start microsoft outlook. Start with the account that you know does have a license which includes desktop software. Some schools also only assign BASIC licenses (webmail and mobile apps only), so that account may not be enabled for use with Outlook desktop client. Use the OLD 'Mail' INTERFACE via control panel so you can MANUALLY configure an account that you add. Click on Update Options and select Update now to update your email. Click on File, select Office Account, and go to Office Update. Don’t forget to update your Outlook version. ![]() When you add an address nowadays, it automatically chooses what it thinks is the best way to configure it, always wanting to optimize/prioritize an Exchange or 365 connection - it takes you right to that auth screen without allowing you to choose the protocol. Select the add-ins you want to disable and save the changes. Any email addresses belonging to a second tenant are best added via IMAP. It becomes the PRIMARY account for the install. You didn't mention in your post what/how many or what type of email addresses - someone else probably would also have picked up on that sooner. I think you can only have ONE organization in your Outlook. But adding other m365 emails such as other company emails and my school email also failed
